Over 100 members of the Peterson Society were recognized for their generosity to the college at a luncheon, held Thursday, September 15, at the Buffalo Club.
The Peterson Society is the college’s honor society for those who have made a gift to the college in their wills or through other estate planning means.
Fifteen new members were inducted into the society this year, including: Scott M. Black, ’04; Joan A. Commerford; Deborah Fields Dombroff, ’72; Diane M. English, ’70; Stanton H. Hudson Jr.; Carmen J. Iannaccone, ’61; Frederick A. Jacob, ’50; Carol I. (Snider) Manne, ’58; Rebecca J. Schenk, ’77; Louise Simon Schoene; and Carol A. Townsend. There were two anonymous inductees as well.
Marzia Yosefzadeh, a Buffalo State senior who is a recipient of a Woods-Beals Student Fund, expressed her gratitude to the Peterson Society members by saying, “You are, and will forever be, a reminder that I am worth something, that someone has faith, that I am capable of learning and being more. It is rare that someone sees those with disabilities as an investment in our world’s future, but that is precisely what you are doing—investing in our future—which can only make us more likely to succeed.”
The Peterson Society is named for the late Harold F. Peterson and his late wife, Lucille Mattern Peterson, ’39, in honor of their legacy of giving to Buffalo State College.
