Alumni Profile: Danni Lang, '07

Posted: June 18, 2014

Danni Lang, B.A. ’07, embraced her Chinese American heritage while growing up in Buffalo. Now as a successful Hollywood film actress, she gracefully walks the bridge between East and West through her work.

"Drew Kahn [professor of theater] gave me excellent advice and guidance in pursuing my career in acting," Lang said. "I'm very grateful for my time at Buffalo State and for the excellent staff in both the Biology and Theater departments for preparing me for everything postgraduation."

Her first break after graduation was to secure an on-air job in Beijing, broadcasting the weather to 190 million homes worldwide on CCTV, the English language news channel of China Central Television.

Upon returning to the United States, Lang landed feature-film roles working opposite Oscar-winning actors Sean Penn, Adrien Brody, and Mickey Rooney. She earned critical acclaim for her role in the 2012 Lionsgate film Safe and has appeared in national commercials and episodes of One Life to Live and All My Children.

The next time you’ll see her on the big screen? The 2014 holiday season. Lang has a prominent role in the movie Christmas in Hollywood, which is currently in postproduction.
